So around this hectic time of year, it makes me feel good to look at my peers in the BLB (Boyd Law Building) and know that I’m not alone in the utter misery that defines preparation for law school finals. In a daydream while “studying” I did this rediculous calculation that I’d like to share…
So in the article from the Trib I posted about last week it mentioned that about 44,000 people graduate from law school each year. Times that by three and you get 132,000 – – That’s how many people are preparing for law finals any given December or April/May. Little did we know while we were in the 3rd grade playing duck hunt that such zombie like beings even existed let alone infested the libraries and coffee shops around us.
So my mind wanders further from Intermediate Scrutiny and is curious about what percentage of people that are around the general age of law students are in law school. So according to the CIA World Factbook there are an estimated 303,824,646 people in the U.S. and from this population bell curve below I’ve estimated that about 6% (totally an eye-ball calculation with conditions to bring it down that took way too long to explain here) of the U.S. population is around the median age to enter law school – so that makes 18,229,478 people of about law school age. The 132,000 of us make up .724% of this demographic and therefore, according to the roughest and least scientific mathematic calculation known to mankind, 99.276% of our peers will never have even a shred of an idea of what law school finals are like. 99.276% !!!!!!!!!! Well this started as a way to make me feel better…..
Shedding a tear.
